18:15 Adrianna Naruk: Parenting in the “Nonviolent Communication” trend

In 1978, Astrid Lindgren was awarded the Peace Prize of the German Booksellers. At the award ceremony, she made a fiery speech against violence, especially against children. She expressed people’s deep longing for peace in the world and pointed to the mechanisms of the emergence of violence that each of us can counteract.

The exhibition “No Violence!” created by the Swedish Institute consists of charts with quotes from this particular speech. The extremely important and still relevant message of Lindgren is underlined by suggestive watercolor illustrations by Stina Wirsén.

We hope that the exhibition will contribute to a fuller understanding of why corporal punishment is not a good educational method.
