Białystoker Waldemar Baks was approaching his fourteenth birthday when the war broke out. The time of war and occupation coincided with his adolescence and the change of consciousness from a boy to a man. The author, like most of his peers, tries to actively enjoy life, develop social relations, build his independence. And these are the aspects he focuses on the most. However, war always remains in the background. It appears unwanted, at different times, more or less visible. It seems that this is what is most surprising about these diaries - they are a record of seemingly ordinary everyday life, which, however, is constantly under the threat of occupation.
