Krzysztof Gieniusz (born 1963 in Sokółka) – in 1997, he began to attend therapy workshops, where he discovered painting under the tutelage of Celina Łuckiewicz and Wojciech Krupa. It turned out that thanks to this field of art, suffering from speech disorder and mental retardation, Gieniusz communicates perfectly with the outside world: he looks, sees and tells the world in his own way. He developed his artistic passion under the artistic supervision of Ewa Petelczyc, art instructor at the Sokółka Cultural Centre.

From the beginning, the language of Gieniusz’ composition is personal and consistent, thanks to which his works are immediately recognizable. He tells stories about people, animals, houses, filled with landscape with a characteristic perspective. He uses mainly poster paints, and his favourite format is A1. It seems that his works boil down to simple graphic characters with a strong contour, but the expressive narrative and colours attract the attention of both viewers and critics.

Several documentaries have been created about Krzysztof Gieniusz, and his artistic achievements are valued nationwide and abroad.
