Exibition presents the history of planning and implementing the construction of a Ludwik Zamenhof monument, as well as the commemorative tablets of the Białystok Esperantomovement.

In the beginning was the file.

A non-descript, paper file. Inside was a number of documents: architectural plans, descriptions, photographs. Nobody knew that the file, which was created in the 60s, had survived. Until 2012. It was found by Sebastian Wicher, employee of the Urban Planning Department of the City Council. Since the materials concerned the plans of building a monument of Ludwik Zamenhof, he decided to contact the Ludwik Zamenhof Centre. After looking through the contents, the Ludwik Zamenhof Centre decided to expand the subject.

A young historian, Wiesław Wróbel, was invited to investigate the history of the monument, the history of how Białystok planned and attempted to commemorate the creator of Esperanto. This is how a timeline of over 100 years was created - from the early 20th century until today.
While looking through the archives Wiesław Wróbel found an exceptionally interesting item, that was hidden for decades in the darkness of oblivion and - as one may suspect - under a thick layer of dust.

It turned out that you don't have to use a shovel to make a discovery. What did Wiesław Wróbel find?

April 14th, 2013 - promotion of the book by Wiesław Wróbel, published by the Ludwik Zamenhof Centre entitled "The monument wasn't built in a day..." presenting the history of planning and implementing the construction of a Ludwik Zamenhof monument, as well as the commemorative tablets of the Białystok Esperanto Movement.
